The Most Important Way You Can Help our Town

On a day-to-day basis, local races — and especially school boards — really have an impact on our community; everything from the power of taxation and impact on property values to the type of children we’re turning out. In a lot of ways, you can make the argument that running for school board is perhaps the most important way you can get involved in our community.

School Boards are the smallest unit of government that you can get involved in and it is one of the most important citizen responsibilities.  If you don’t like what’s happening in our districts and you want to help change things, it starts with you running for the board in your district, and reaching out to your neighbors to encourage them to vote.

Brighton is in the unique situation of having five different School Districts in our town.  Brighton, Penfield, Pittsford, Rush-Henrietta and Wheatland-Chili school districts all come into the Town of Brighton.  Each district will have two School Board positions to fill.  If you are interested in learning more about running, or know someone to recommend, please reach out to us and we will put you in touch with the right people to talk to.
